Chicago Blackhawks steal the Stanley Cup

With five remaining teams in the playoff, the series became more and more exciting. The five teams we're in fact the last five teams to win the cup. With a shorten season because of an NHL lockdown, the final results will be one of the most remembered by our hockey fans. The Final came up to the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks and until on Monday night, the Stanley Cup was up for grasp!

Center Dave Bolland, a Bruins Veteran was the one to bring the Stanley Cup home with 58.3 seconds left in the 3rd period on Monday night.

Bolland's goal in the end of game 6 allowed the Blackhawks to win a second Stanley Cup in  four years and complete a marvelous season with a memorable comeback at the Boston Bruin's home ice.

Game 6 was greatly anticipated and Boston came ready to play. Within the first 10 minutes of play, the Bruins showed they weren't leaving without a battle. 12:41 in the first period, Chris Kelly scored a quick snap-shot goal to beat Crawford on the top right with the help of his teammates Seguin and Paille. The Bruins made small and quick passes and played like lions eager to attack their pray. At the end of the first period, the shots were 12-6 in favor of the Boston Bruins.

The rest of the game did not unfold this way. Blackhawks out-passed, out-shot and out-numbered the Boston Bruins. The intensity went up one level to let place to an electrifying game between those two teams. Nevertheless ,the Bruins hung on and it was up 2-1 by half-way through the third period. Milan Lucic's goal seemed to give new life to this team and to approximately 18 000 fans awaiting for a well-deserved game 7.

Unfortunately, it did not end here. The Bruins were unable to take advantage of their chances nor to increase their lead on their opponents leaving hope for Chicago to tie the game. The head coach removed his goaltender and moments afterwards Chicago invaded the Bruins zone. They had utter control and the Bruins were unable to clear their zone or gain the control of the puck. With three players around the net, it took a matter of seconds before this trio beat Crawford, with 1:16 remaining in the third. The game was suddenly tied 2-2.

Seventeen seconds later,  Dave Bolland took the rebound from this teammate and was able to get past the two defenders and Crawford to give the win to his team. With 58.3  seconds remaining in the 3rd period , we witnessed the ultimate and historic comeback of the Chicago Blackhawks at TD Garden.

"Nobody saw it coming," said Chicago coach Joel Quenneville to a CBC journalist.

Jonathan Toews, the captain of Chicago Blackhawks was the first player to hold the Stanley Cup while all his team celebrated their victory. Tears , flying gloves and much more began the celebration of one wonderful year. Once more, the Blackhawks finished at the top.

"Wwooowww what can I say what a feeling" Bickell wrote on his twitter account.

Another tremendous  playoff serie in 2013 ladies and gentleman.

"I've seen [comebacks like this] happen in soccer, in the [UEFA] Champions League, but not in hockey," Blackhawks center Michal Handzus said to an NHL source. "Especially at this big stage, Game 6, elimination game, being in the road building and to score two goals in the last minute to win the Cup. Wow, that's incredible."

The 3rd period was incredibly fast paste with no place for mistakes.Deep emotions were felt in the crowd when the puck hit the post or just scrambled around the net. Both goaltenders were very stable and demonstrated why they were in the playoffs in the first place. Both teams gave it their all but only one could come out the victor.

With 36 wins during their regular season and a sequence of 11 consecutive wins, Chicago finished in 1rst place of their division and continued their journey to win the Stanley Cup. All year, their players demonstrated their determination and their hard work to overcome any struggles that may lay ahead and overcome injuries.

"That team in 2010, we didn't really know what we were doing," Toews said to a CTV News after the game. "We played great hockey, and we were kind of oblivious to how good we were playing. This time around we know definitely how much work it takes and how much sacrifice it takes to get back here, and this is an unbelievable group.

"We've been through a lot together this year, and this is a sweet way to finish it off."

On the other side, Boston was felt in complete shock once the game ended at their home rink. However, they had a great run this year and demonstrated their abilities to persist till the end. Nevertheless, the loss was excruciating to all the players and shock struck every one of them..

"It's terrible," Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk said to the press. "It's the total opposite of what happened with Toronto. We're up one and ready go to Game 7. Then, all of the sudden, it's over."

This morning the harsh reality defeat sinked in for the Bruins. This time luck was not on their side and they suffered a devastating lost against the Blackhawks, whom will stay on their mind for the duration of the summer.

"It’s a tough way to lose, tough way to lose a game, tough way to lose a series," said the Captain to an NHL journalist.

Chicago anticipated the same outcome as the Bruins. They were all preparing for that game 7. Within the last minute, they became the victors of the playoffs series.

Chicago is now the first team in this era to win two titles of the Stanley cup. They are also the first team to win the series in 6 games after losing 2-1 against the opposing team. This team awhile back was the underdog and they have been demonstrating why we always need to fear that team.

Chicago have been celebrating their victory with their peers and are continuing their celebration with their family and their fans at home. A memorable summer is ahead.

Dreams came true Monday night and while others crumbled. Some held their first Stanley Cup, others stood in complete shock as their dream ran away from them.

With determination and effort, success is within reach.
