Ottawa: Pride Parade kick-off on Sunday

The Pride Parade happens this Sunday, and there are a ton of happenings to get you pumped up for the main event. Strip Spelling Bee is back at Babylon, Laugh out Proud is happening at Yuk Yuks, and there’s a bowling tournament – and that’s just tonight. Friday, there’s a pantsless party and Cirque Bizarre, while Saturday brings a choral showcase and some karaoke. Following the parade on Sunday, parties will keep going until the weekend wraps up!

Dance parties will also be the theme down at Pour Boy on Friday night, with the DJs behind Timekode and Kitchen Party spinning the tunes for Pour Party 2. Mercury Lounge will feature a whole lotta soul on Friday, with Boddhi Satva and DJ Rise Ashen on the stage. Out at the Black Sheep, it’s hootenanny timeFevers is celebrating their new album with 24 hours of fun, starting at Mugshots and ending at Mavericks. On Saturday, Lobby throws a party for the final time, before it’s transformed into a new venue. Also on Saturday, Good2Go will be playing at Atomic Rooster, while Babylon continues with the Pride theme with a special edition of OhMyJam.

Saturday brings a great fundraiser down at Mugshots – 4 Pivot’s Sake will feature different chefs and musicians all performing their special craft, with all proceeds going to For Pivot’s Sake skateboard charity. Catch our ticket giveaway over here!

Crush Improv’s shows continue, with the Ira Glass-inspired This Canadian Life show on Saturday night down at Arts Court. Also down at that end of town, it’s the Little Treasures Sale and Block Party, hosted by your favourite Dalhousie shops all day long.

Arms and the Man performances wind up this weekend – catch it while you can! The Gladstone’s One Night Only performances continue, with folk musicians, jugglers and hip hop artists on stage this weekend.

You can also learn capoeira dancing, discover the old town of Hintonburg, and catch an exhibit about the controversy surrounding the Anishinaabe Scout statute. Need to brighten up your day a bit? Run around the Canadian Tire Centre and get doused in buckets of colour on Sunday morning!
